FRESHWATER SCIENTIST
Lovisa Ekelund
Lovisa has been a Freshwater Scientist with Traverse since 2017 and is based in Christchurch. Lovisa holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a Master of Environmental Management from Massey University.
Her research at Massey focused on aquatic invertebrates and their usefulness as biomonitoring tools in wetland ecosystems. In her current role, Lovisa prepares and writes water quality and ecological reports for the re-consenting and compliance monitoring of potable water treatment plants and wastewater treatment plants in the lower North Island, and has prepared and contributed to many Assessments of Environmental Effects technical reports relating to wastewater and stormwater discharges. Lovisa has also been involved in preparing and presenting expert evidence to hearing panels. She also works alongside community catchment groups to analyse and report on water quality and ecological data and assists in developing freshwater monitoring plans.
