State of the Environment of Hawke's Bay catchments (2016)

We were engaged by Hawke's Bay Regional Council to produce Water Quality State of the Environment reports for four of the Region's major catchment areas: 

  • Tukituki River catchment
  • Waikari, Aropoaonui and Esk catchments
  • Wairoa River and Notrhern catchments
  • Porangahau River and Southern Coastal


  • The reports were published in 2016 by Hawke's Bay Regional Council

Hawke’s Bay Region stormwater “State of Knowledge” report

Discharges of stormwater in the Hawke’s Bay Region are currently managed under the provisions of the Regional Resource Management Plan and the Proposed Regional Coastal Environment Plan. As part of a wider review of its environmental policies, the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is reviewing its planning provisions relating to discharges of stormwater.

Nutrient status of rivers in the Wellington Region

July 2011: Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) is in the process of developing technical recommendations to support the Council’s second generation Regional Freshwater Plan. Middle Hurunui catchment water quality report

March 2010: Concerns were raised in the late 1990s about the quality of the lower Hurunui River. In November 2005 Environment Canterbury started a monitoring programme focussed on the middle and lower reaches of the Hurunui River. This programme aimed at providing background water quality and river flow data for the middle reaches of the Hurunui River and its main tributaries.

Hawke’s bay 2008-2009 catchment water quality reports

Aquanet Consulting was commissioned by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council to produce a comprehensive report on the state, trends and contaminant loads in the Tukituki catchment.
